Onboarding Process
Retailer submits an interest email
Retailer sends an email expressing interest in participating in SNAP online to SNAPonline@usda.gov. The interest email must include a SNAP authorized brick-and-mortar FNA number or specify that the retailer is applying as an online only retailer.
Please note: Retailers interested in SNAP online only participation must submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) to SNAPOnline@usda.gov. More detailed information and requirements, as well as a fillable template for the LOI, can be found at SEMTAC.
FNA sends Internet Retailer Application Package
Upon receipt, if we have no additional questions, we will send an internet retailer application package to the retailer for completion. Please note: all SNAP authorized brick-and-mortar locations intending to participate in SNAP online must complete a SNAP regulatory requirement known as reauthorization. The SNAP online application cannot be processed until reauthorization is complete.
Please note: The required documents that make up the application package, the letter of intent template, retailer authorization spreadsheet, retailer waiver, and if needed, letter of representation template can be found on the FNA website. You may complete and submit these forms as part of your initial LOI e-mail to save time.
FNA reviews Internet Retailer Application Package materials
Retailer submits application materials for us to review.
FNA completes reauthorization review
We complete a reauthorization review of all SNAP authorized brick-and-mortar locations.
Retailer receives welcome package
The retailer will receive a welcome package via email. The welcome package includes an FNA internet retailer number, orientation materials and instructions on next steps.
FNA requests business requirements document and demo (if needed)
The retailer and/or eCommerce platform provider will be asked to submit a business requirements document (BRD). Generally, new eCommerce platform providers and retailers using their own eCommerce platform will be asked to submit a BRD.
Retailer and FNA conduct end-to-end testing
The retailer will test their eCommerce platform to ensure it conforms to our requirements. Upon successful completion of this testing, we will then perform testing.
FNA confirms SNAP online purchasing launch details
Once testing is successfully concluded, we will communicate to the retailer that they are free to launch SNAP online at their earliest convenience!
